EX·AM·INE | Work of Salvation

JUNE SOED CAMPAIGN

Week 2 Foundation Scriptures:

Galatians 6:1-5...1 (NKJ) Brethren, if a man is overtaken in any trespass, you who are spiritual restore such a one in a spirit of gentleness, considering yourself lest you also be tempted. 2Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ. 3For if anyone thinks himself to be something, when he is nothing, he deceives himself. 4But let each one examine his own work, and then he will have rejoicing in himself alone, and not in another. 5For each one shall bear his own load.

4 TAKEAWAYS:

1. RESTORATION; RESTORING others should ALWAYS be the focus of those who are "spiritual" towards those who have been “overtaken in any trespass”. These are those who unexpectedly got caught up in their trespass(es). Their intentions are not to abandon the faith but just are caught up.

*spiritual: the people who is walking by the Spirit, living by the Spirit, and keeping in step with the Spirit (1 Corinthians 12:16&25)

2. "Considering Ourselves":

By truly EXAMINING OURSELVES we will DISCOVER where we fall short on a daily basis and if not careful could get caught up in our trespasses ourselves. This DISCOVERY should cause us to then have that “spirit of gentleness” towards those who are themselves falling short and being “overtaken in any trespass” because we understand where they are at and where we could be.

Hebrews 4:15: For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin.

3. “Fulfill the law of Christ”:

Jesus “bore our burdens” (Isaiah 53:4 & 1 Peter 2:24) so when we “bear one another’s burdens” we are "fulfilling the law of Christ" and showing the love of Christ to one another. He did it for us and commands us to do it for others.

4. “EXAMINE HIS OWN WORK”:

this is how we “see” what we “are”; “something” or “nothing”; basically Paul doesn’t want us to deceive ourselves into thinking that we are “something” when we may not be because we aren’t EXAMINING our OWN WORK which is the WORK of “WORKING OUT OUR OWN SALVATION” (Philippians 2:12&13)...

...Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, so now, not only as in my presence but much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who works in you, both to will and to work for his good pleasure.

God is pleased when we EXAMINE OUR OWN WORK of salvation because in that EXAMINING process we (God and ourselves) can change and accomplish what He wants to do in and through us that we might be all that He created us to be and do.
