The Satisfaction of Communion

Matthew 5:6

"Blessed are those who HUNGER and THIRST for RIGHTEOUSNESS, for they shall be SATISFIED.

As we prepare to take communion let us take a look at the words of Jesus, who said "Blessed are those who HUNGER and THIRST for RIGHTEOUSNESS, for they shall be SATISFIED."

We could very easily take this verse and add the communion message to it and be alright with God. Look at it like this, "Blessed are those who HUNGER for the body of Jesus and THIRST for His blood, for they shall be SATISFIED.". We can make that addition because He is our RIGHTEOUSNESS according to 2 Corinthians 5:21 which says, "For our sake, He made Him to be sin who knew no sin, so that IN HIM we might become the RIGHTEOUSNESS of God.". If we HUNGER and THIRST for RIGHTEOUSNESS we are essentially desiring Christ Jesus. Desiring to be IN HIM who is RIGHTEOUS.

In John 6:47(53,54)-59 Jesus says that "whoever feeds on My flesh and drinks My blood has ETERNAL LIFE" which is to truly be SATISFIED. This is the blessing spoken in Matthew 5:6; ETERNAL LIFE; true SATISFACTION.

We have to develop a HUNGER and a THIRST for Him who is our RIGHTEOUSNESS, but not just for Him alone but for ETERNAL LIFE also which is the blessing is, which is obtained through Christ Jesus. When we develop this HUNGER and THIRST we will find ourselves seeking after Him and ETERNAL LIFE. We will find ourselves taking every opportunity to fill ourselves up with more of Him and His word. We will find ourselves recognizing that we can't live without Him and including Him in our daily doings. We'll find ourselves not beginning our days and or ending our nights without engaging with Him and His word. We won't mind missing our favorite shows or the game in order to spend time with Him when prompted to by men or the Spirit. We won't mind missing out on extracurricular activities or overtime pay on the job to be in His presence. That's how we'll know that we have developed that HUNGER and THIRST for RIGHTEOUSNESS; that HUNGER and THIRST for Him and the blessing to GAIN MORE of Him and His Father.

So as we take Communion this time around, let's do so with a desire to be solidified "IN HIM". Let's do so with a desire to develop the appetite to HUNGER and THIRST for His word, His commands, His teachings. Let's do so with a desire to want more of Him. Let's do so with a desire to walk worthy of the body that was given for us and the blood that was shed for the forgiveness of our sins not only when eating the bread and drink the cup, but daily. It truly is a blessing to HUNGER and THIRST for RIGHTEOUSNESS. It's truly a blessing to have ETERNAL LIFE; to know God, the one true God, and Jesus Christ, the Son of God. And, it truly is a blessing to partake of this thing called The Lord's Supper/Communion.

This is what He desires from us and wants us to do.

All He needs is a willing heart.

Will you be that?

Will you do that?
